Whether you’re planning on doing a DIY wine bottle project or want to apply custom labels for a party, the first step is removing the label. A quick internet search will yield many methods–from baking the bottle in the oven to steaming the label off over a pot of boiling water–but which method is best? Well, my friends, I’ve done the research and testing for you. Here is the easiest way to remove the labels from wine bottles:
Supplies
– Wine Bottles (I did 12 bottles total, three at a time.)
– Baking Soda
– A bucket or sink
– Steel Wool
Directions
1. Fill your sink with warm water and add about 1-2 tablespoons for every two cups of water. I wasn’t very scientific with my measurements.
2. Let the bottles soak for 30 minutes.
3. Remove the labels. Results will vary by wine bottle. Some of the labels floated off while soaking; most peeled off easily; and some needed a little more TLC. One bottle of Pinot Grigio was particularly challenging. After two hours of soaking, it still required a bit of scrubbing with steel wool.
